Malabar Group signs LOI with West Bengal government to expand CSR impact

Malabar Group, the parent company of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Government of West Bengal to strengthen government-corporate collaboration and expand its CSR initiatives across the state. The Group has earmarked ₹20 crore for CSR activities in West Bengal for FY 2026-27.

The LOI was exchanged with Finance Minister Dr Swapan Dasgupta by Thahsil Ahammed, Regional Head (East India), Malabar Gold & Diamonds, along with Sajid N K, Manufacturing Head, and Shabeer P K, Senior Manager, CSR. The collaboration aligns with West Bengal’s integrated CSR framework involving the Finance Department, State CSR Council, West Bengal CSR Portal and CSR Projects Facilitation Unit.

Through Malabar Charitable Trust and implementing partner Daya Rehabilitation Trust (Thanal), the Group supports 297 Micro Learning Centres benefiting 11,873 children and has provided scholarships to 500 girls. Its Ujjwala Scholarship supports 500 students from the Karigar community. The Group also provides daily nutritious meals to 1,200 beneficiaries, street medical services to around 60 people and has completed 629 drinking water wells against a target of 800.

In Bhubaneswar, the initiative highlights the growing importance of structured CSR partnerships across eastern India, particularly in education, healthcare, nutrition, water security and artisan welfare, areas relevant to businesses seeking stronger community engagement.

The Group has proposed a Grandma Home for 60 elderly women and committed 80 houses in West Bengal under Samman Awas.
