Mamata Banerjee writes to PM Modi: ​Centre’s vaccine policy hollow, without substance

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee slammed the Centre’s new policy and called it “Blank Substance”, and tragic show of responsibility.

Every person over the age of 14 will be eligible to be vaccinated against covid-19 from May 1, the central government said on Monday liberalize vaccination campaigns to allow dosage collection from.

“I have been informed that the Central Government has announced the delayed Universal Vaccine Policy on April 19, 2021, which seems to be a regrettable, substanceless, empty expression of the central government’s snatching of responsibility in times of crisis,” Banerjee said in the letter.

He reminded the Prime Minister that in a letter dated February 24, 2021, he had requested his intervention to allow West Bengal to purchase vaccines directly with state resources and to provide free vaccinations to the people of the state.
