Manipal Hospital hosts Breast Cancer Champions’ meet in Aizawl, celebrate strength and hope

Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, hosted a Breast Cancer Champions’ Meet in Aizawl, highlighting the resilience and courage of breast cancer survivors. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women in India, with one in 20 women at risk, and Mizoram reporting a comparatively high incidence rate. The event, held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, was presided over by Dr. Pooja Agarwal, Consultant – Surgical Oncology, and Dr. Aadil Adnan, Head of Nuclear Medicine, who emphasized the importance of early detection, advanced treatment, and holistic healing.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Agarwal noted, “Early detection and timely treatment have significantly improved survival rates. Programs like this develop support networks that remind women they are not alone in this fight.” Dr. Adnan highlighted innovations in nuclear medicine, stating, “Our mission is to combine technology and compassion, ensuring every woman receives optimum care and confidence to overcome cancer.” Survivors, including Juliet Lalruatmawii Ralte, Lalruatfeli, and Zonunmawii, shared personal journeys of diagnosis, treatment, and hope, reflecting the transformative impact of proper medical intervention.

In Aizawl, the event underscored the growing awareness and demand for advanced cancer care in the region. Residents increasingly seek specialized treatments beyond local facilities, boosting outreach programs and medical tourism links with leading hospitals like Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass. The meet not only highlighted survivorship but also strengthened community trust in advanced oncological care available outside Mizoram. The program aligned with the WHO theme, “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” emphasizing personalized care and continued advocacy for screenings, early diagnosis, and emotional support for breast cancer patients.
