ManipalCigna expands East India footprint with 43% growth

ManipalCigna Health Insurance has posted an impressive 43% year-on-year premium growth in May 2025, outpacing all other Standalone Health Insurers (SAHI), according to the General Insurance Council. The company recorded over ₹130 crore in Gross Direct Premium Written (GDPW) from East India in FY25, with West Bengal alone contributing ₹55 crore. The insurer plans to double its presence in the region by expanding its advisor base from 10,000 to 20,000 and increasing its branch network across 42 cities.

Local agents report a notable surge in consumer interest, driven by rising awareness of both lifestyle and communicable diseases. Sarvah, which contributed to 50% of new business in Kolkata, is fast becoming a preferred option for Siliguri residents seeking accessible and value-driven healthcare solutions.

With ₹200 crore in claims paid across East India over three years and 45,000+ policies issued in FY25, ManipalCigna is cementing its position as a trusted insurer. The company’s portfolio, including Sarvah, Lifetime Health, and Senior Citizen plans, aligns well with the evolving healthcare needs of Tier-II and III markets.
