Maruti Suzuki Adapts Brezza to Evolving Consumer Mindsets

Maruti Suzuki India is repositioning its popular compact SUV Brezza to meet the changing preferences of Indian consumers, with a stronger focus on first-time buyers and evolving customer expectations. Ahead of the launch of the refreshed model, the country’s largest carmaker said the new Brezza has been developed to appeal to a wider range of buyers rather than a single customer segment.

The company said the profile of Brezza customers has changed significantly in recent times. The share of first-time car buyers has increased, while first-time buyers, replacement buyers and additional-car buyers now contribute almost equally to the model’s customer base. Maruti Suzuki said the updated Brezza has been designed to address the needs of all these groups.

According to the company, entry-level SUV buyers have become increasingly aspirational over the years, with greater emphasis on performance, technology and practicality. Internal research indicates that the importance of advanced features and improved utility, including boot space, has grown substantially among customers.

Maruti Suzuki’s senior executive officer for marketing and sales, Partho Banerjee, said the company is focusing on understanding consumer mindsets rather than relying only on demographic profiles. He added that changing lifestyles and aspirations of young Indian buyers are influencing vehicle choices.

With competition increasing in India’s compact SUV segment, Maruti Suzuki aims to strengthen the Brezza’s position by combining design, technology and features that match the expectations of a diverse and growing customer base.
