Gurgaon-based Medanta – The Medicity, recognized as India’s Best Private Hospital by Newsweek for six consecutive years, has launched an educational video to help women perform a quick self-breast examination. The initiative is part of the hospital’s “Jaanta Hai Medanta” campaign, aimed at empowering consumers to take charge of their health and catch breast cancer early.
The video features Dr. Kanchan Kaur, Senior Director, Breast Cancer at Medanta, demonstrating a simple three-step procedure that takes only three minutes and should be done once a month, ideally 2–3 days after menstruation. The self-exam involves checking the breast and armpit with light pressure in circular and up-and-down motions, while observing for lumps, changes in skin texture, or nipple deformities. “Regular self-exams and screenings are crucial because early detection greatly improves treatment outcomes,” Dr. Kaur said.
The initiative is gaining attention among consumers and local healthcare providers. Clinics report an increase in women scheduling preventive screenings, while pharmacies and wellness centers are running awareness campaigns to educate the public. The response highlights a growing consumer focus on proactive health management in the city. With breast cancer being the most common cancer among Indian women, Medanta’s campaign demonstrates that simple, accessible steps can make a life-saving difference, giving consumers the knowledge and tools to act early.
