It’s been over a month now since Instagram’s reply on Twitter (at least that’s what it said then). Called Threads, the app got off to a flying start but has now slowed somewhat in terms of daily users and time spent on the app. However, it looks like a web version of the app is coming soon, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal, a web app for Threads could be coming as early as this week.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri pointed out last week that the web version is a bit of a gamble. “It’s a bit buggy now, you don’t want it yet. We’ll share it with everyone else as soon as it’s ready.”
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, Meta earlier confirmed that the web app is working. Zuckerberg hinted that Meta is working on improving the app’s search functionality.
In the meantime, Mosseri recently released two new features for the app, a repost tab and a reverse chronological feed, both based on user feedback. The Repost tab enables users to view all reposted threads, while the chronological feed displays all reposts. Currently, the average time spent on threads with 2.6 sessions per day is only 2.9 minutes.
After a smashing start, Threads has hit an all-time low as the number of users on the app is rapidly declining. However, this is not acting as a barrier for meta-owned apps to roll out new features. Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, announced two new features for Threads in a post on the social media platform.
“Two small updates to threads that are worth mentioning: We’re introducing a new report tab on your profile so you can see all the threads you’ve reposted in one place.
We’re re-adding posts to the feed you follow, based on your feedback,” he said in the post.
