A one-day State Level Conference of Principal Census Officers was held at the Mizoram Secretariat regarding the Census of India, 2027, chaired by Sudhir Kumar, Principal Secretary and State Nodal Officer. Attendees included Deputy Commissioners and the Municipal Commissioner of Aizawl Municipal Corporation. Kumar highlighted the Census’s significance for evidence-based planning and urged officers to fulfill their responsibilities diligently as per the Census Act, 1948. Jamil R. Swer, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Census Operations, presented the strategy, noting that the Houselisting and Housing Operation (HLO) will take place from April 16 to May 15, 2026, with self-enumeration available from April 1 to 15, 2026. He emphasized that this Census will be fully digital and sought cooperation from various departments. Shivam, Assistant Director, discussed digital tools for monitoring progress, while Lalrohlua, Joint Secretary, outlined preparations including training schedules and roles of census functionaries. The conference concluded with Kumar stressing the importance of prioritizing census work and fostering coordination among departments for a successful Census of India, 2027 in Mizoram.
