The three-day Lemchan–Mizoram Film Festival 2026 commenced on Monday at the I&PR Office in Aizawl, organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, NFDC, and Directorate of Information & Public Relations. The event, described as Mizoram’s inaugural major film festival by Minister B. Lalchhanzova, aims to showcase local filmmakers and Mizo narratives. He emphasized cinema’s role in entertainment, education, and economic growth for youth. Betsy Zothanpari Sailo welcomed attendees, while Lillete Dubey spoke on cinema’s transcultural impact. Gouri Nair from NFDC highlighted the festival’s potential for boosting Mizoram’s film industry. Scheduled for March 16-18, 2026, it includes screenings and workshops with film industry experts.
