Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma inaugurated two Excise and Narcotics Stations in Saitual and Khawzawl on December 11, reinforcing the state’s efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse. These stations aim to curb the growing narcotics crisis in Mizoram, a key transit point for drugs trafficked from Myanmar.
Since taking office on December 8 last year, Chief Minister Lalduhoma has prioritized anti-drug initiatives. His administration has engaged with NGOs, churches, and government departments to craft a comprehensive strategy addressing both drug supply and demand. Plans to amend existing laws for stricter enforcement are also in progress.
The newly launched stations will enhance the state’s monitoring and enforcement capacity, focusing on regions vulnerable to drug trafficking. A third station in Hnahthial will be inaugurated on December 12 by Excise and Narcotics Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar.
Lalduhoma’s administration has also emphasized community involvement, with consultations and awareness programs to tackle addiction and promote rehabilitation. The state’s efforts reflect a holistic approach to addressing the drug crisis, combining enforcement, legislative reform, and community engagement.
