Mizoram govt demands an end to Governor’s rule in Chakma Autonomous District Council

The Mizoram government is advocating for the restoration of democratic governance in the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) by ending the imposition of Governor’s Rule, which began on July 7 of the previous year. The ZPM legislative party had claimed the right to form an executive committee with 16 of the 20 council members. The Council of Ministers highlighted that the party has maintained the capability to form a stable government and recommended that the government should be allowed to be formed rather than prolonging Governor’s Rule. They found no justification for extending the rule due to a lack of political instability. The CADC comprises 24 Members of District Council, with 20 elected and 4 nominated by the Governor.
