45 Villages Remain Without Electricity in Mizoram, Minister Tells House

Despite ongoing infrastructure developments, 45 villages in Mizoram remain un-electrified or de-electrified, as reported by state Power and Electricity Minister F. Rodingliana to the state Assembly. In response to queries from opposition MLA Prova Chakma, the minister revealed that the government is taking steps to electrify these areas under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). Necessary approvals have already been obtained, and three contractors have been selected for the electrification work, including two from outside the state. Myanmar National, Three Others Arrested with Meth and Heroin

Four individuals, including a Myanmarese national, were arrested near the Indo-Myanmar border in Mizoram, with drugs valued at Rs 31 crore. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), in collaboration with the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) Mizoram and State Excise and Narcotics Department, conducted the operations, resulting in the seizure of 36.434 kg of methamphetamine and 905 grams of heroin. The NCB encourages citizens to report narcotics-related information confidentially through the MANAS Helpline (toll-free: 1933).

Mizoram Government Signals Strong Action to Curb Areca Nut Smuggling

The Mizoram government is intensifying its efforts against the smuggling of areca nuts from Myanmar, which has caused significant economic harm to local farmers and contributed to the growth of unregulated black money.
