Life across Mizoram came to a standstill on Wednesday as the Mizo National Front (MNF), the state’s principal opposition party, enforced a 10-hour statewide shutdown in protest against the state government’s decision to adopt the Forest (Conservation) Amendment Act, 2023 (FCAA). The bandh, which began at 6 a.m., was observed widely across the state, sparing only Mamit district, where bypolls are due to be held on November 11.
