In a major anti-narcotics operation, security forces apprehended a Myanmar national near the India-Myanmar border in Mizoram’s Champhai district and seized heroin worth ₹1.77 crore, officials confirmed on Saturday. The joint operation was carried out by the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police based on specific intelligence inputs. The accused was intercepted while attempting to cross the Tiau River, which marks the international boundary between India and Myanmar. During the search, officials recovered 237 grams of heroin from the individual.
