The Mizoram Police, along with the Assam Rifles, successfully intercepted a vehicle and seized six illegal 12-bore single barrel rifles in Serchhip district on November 29, 2024.
The operation, carried out following a tip-off about weapons being transported on the road, involved the establishment of a mobile vehicle check post by the security forces. Upon conducting a thorough search, they recovered the firearms and apprehended an individual. The seized rifles and the arrested person were handed over to Mizoram Police for further action.
In a separate operation earlier this week, the Excise and Narcotics Department, in collaboration with the Drug Disposal Committee, conducted a large-scale drug incineration at the Bethani Multi-Purpose Farm in Aizawl. The incineration involved the destruction of narcotics seized over the past three months, with an estimated market value of Rs 11,50,080.
