Mizoram sees significant rise in female voter registration

The latest draft voter list for Mizoram, published on October 29, highlights a significant gender gap, with female voters outnumbering males by 26,800. Out of Mizoram’s 8,58,534 total voters, 4,42,667 are women, compared to 4,15,867 men.

This draft was compiled as part of a special summary revision to enroll citizens turning 18 on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 in 2025. Aizawl district, with 12 Assembly constituencies, recorded the highest voter count at 2,88,962, followed by Lunglei district with 1,01,002 voters across six constituencies. Hnahthial, a district formed in 2019, reported the lowest voter count at 16,276.

Officials have announced that claims and objections for inclusion can be submitted from October 29 to November 28, with final voter rolls expected in January. Mizoram, which holds 40 assembly constituencies and operates 1,301 polling stations, is gearing up for its next election with this updated voter demographic.
