Mizoram’s Cherry Blossom Event Wows Tourists, Attracts Massive Footfall

A tourism event named ‘Tlaizawng Paradise’ is taking place in Phuaibuang village, Saitual district, Mizoram, coinciding with the cherry blossom season, locally referred to as ‘Tlaizawng’. This two-day event, inaugurated by Mizoram Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama, aims to enhance tourism, stimulate the local economy, and promote conservation of natural resources. It features various adventure tourism activities such as cave exploration, mountain hiking, and mass angling, with approximately 600 participants engaged in a significant angling competition on the Tuivai river. The event also serves as a showcase for local handicrafts and handloom products at the Phuaibuang playground, coupled with cultural and musical performances that provide exposure for local artisans and artists. Lalbiakzama stressed the importance of unity and cooperation among local communities for the sustainable development of tourism in the state. Officials have indicated that the event is anticipated to foster eco-tourism and create livelihood opportunities for the local populace.
