Mizoram’s CID seizes 9.6 kg methamphetamine in major drug bust

Mizoram Police have made significant strides in their ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities with a series of major drug and explosives seizures this week. On Thursday, a team from the CID SB intercepted a drug trafficker in Bawngkawn (Durtlang Road) and confiscated 90 grams of suspected heroin, valued at Rs 2.7 lakh, and 9.595 kilograms of methamphetamine tablets, worth Rs 124.73 lakh. The drugs were concealed within the door panels of a Hyundai i10 Sportz vehicle, driven by 25-year-old Rodintluanga from Bawngkawn Shalom Veng. A case has been registered at the Special Narcotics Police Station.

In a separate operation on Wednesday, the Lunglei DSB team seized 42.38 grams of suspected heroin, valued at Rs 1.27 lakh, from two individuals, Lalremfela (32) and David Lallawmawma (32), in a Maruti Dzire vehicle. The drugs were found on the outskirts of Pukpui, and a case under the NDPS Act has been filed at Lunglei Police Station.

Further, a joint operation by the Thingsai Police Station and 42 Assam Rifles led to the discovery of explosives at the Thingsai Check Gate on Wednesday. The explosives, found in a Pickup vehicle driven by Lallawmzuala (40), included 31 boxes of gelatine sticks, 47 boxes of detonators, and 15 rolls of cortex, with a combined value of Rs 5 lakh. A case has been registered at Thingsai Police Station, and investigations are underway.
