Mizoram’s Serchhip to host global Paragliding event in December

Serchhip in Mizoram is abuzz with anticipation as it gears up to host the International Paragliding Accuracy Championship from December 9 to 13, 2024. The event is set to attract 60 pilots from India and 13 other countries, transforming Serchhip into a hub for adventure sports and cultural tourism.Serchhip District Commissioner Pu Paul L. Khuma recently chaired a pivotal meeting with officials from government agencies and the Mizoram Aero Sports Association (MASA) Serchhip Headquarters. The discussions focused on ensuring seamless logistical arrangements, including traffic management, safety protocols, and infrastructure.

The event’s main venue, Zawlpui Leilet, will feature a dedicated trailhead managed by the Public Works Department and an emergency facility. The Serchhip Traffic Police and Serchhip Police will oversee security and traffic. Medical assistance will be provided by the 42nd Assam Rifles, BSF, and NSS Government Serchhip College.

Beyond the adrenaline of paragliding, the championship will highlight Serchhip’s rich cultural heritage. Visitors can explore local handicrafts and horticultural products, with the Fisheries Department showcasing sustainable fish farming practices. Free concerts, hot air balloon rides, and other attractions will add to the festive atmosphere.
