Monsoon In Delhi, Heavy Rain, Flooded Roads, Huge Jams

Heavy rains lashed Delhi as the monsoons set in, bringing relief after days of hot and humid weather that saw the temperature drop to forty degrees Celsius.
Parts of the city that received rain this morning covered East of Kailash, Burari, Shahdara, Patparganj, ITO Crossing, India Gate, Barapulla, Ring Road, Delhi-Noida border and Delhi-Gurgaon roads. The temperature is fixed at 27.6°C.

Visuals from parts of the metropolis confirmed submerged roads while chaos was reported by site visitors during the morning rush hour. Aviation has also been affected.

Waterlogging was observed near Pragati Maidan, Delhi-Meerut Expressway Vinod Nagar, Pool Prahladpur Underpass, IP Estate in front of WHO Bhavan, under Zakhira Flyover, Jahangirpuri Metro Station, Loni Road Roundabout and Azadpur Market Underpass.
Delhi Traffic Police has issued a site visitor advisory for commuters.

“As per IMD report, ‘Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds will occur over entire Delhi vicinity. Commuters are advised to plan their trip accordingly,” site visitor police tweeted.

Meteorological experts say that the monsoon will bring good rainfall in the first 10 days and will help meet the rain deficit in Delhi. The city has received only 24.5 mm of rain since June 1 against the normal 66.7 mm of rainfall, with the total recorded sometime between June 16-20.
