Motorola targets premium smartphone segment with edge 70 max launch at Rs 49,999

Motorola has strengthened its premium smartphone portfolio in India with the launch of the edge 70 max, a flagship device aimed at consumers seeking high-end performance, AI-powered features and long battery life. The smartphone, priced at an effective introductory price of Rs 49,999, will be available from July 20 through Flipkart, Motorola.in and leading retail outlets, with no-cost EMI options of up to 18 months. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, the edge 70 max delivers an Antutu score of over 3 million and comes with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, 256GB storage and a 5,500 sq mm vapour chamber cooling system. The handset features what Motorola claims is the segment’s only Quad HD+ (2K) LTPO AMOLED display with up to 7,000 nits peak brightness, a 144Hz refresh rate, Dolby Atmos, Snapdragon Sound and Hi-Res Audio support. It is backed by a 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery with 90W TurboPower fast charging and 25W Qi2.2 magnetic wireless charging.

The smartphone also introduces Motorola Qira, the company’s new cross-device AI platform that integrates Motorola smartphones with Lenovo PCs and tablets. Other highlights include a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 AI camera, Pantone Validated colour and SkinTone certification, Android 16 with Hello UX, ThinkShield security, Moto Secure, MIL-STD-810H durability, Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection, IP68/IP69 certification and a premium matte glass finish with an aircraft-grade aluminium frame. Available in Pantone Aqua Gray, Dark Shadow and Ice Melt colour options, the device is positioned to compete in India’s fast-growing premium smartphone category. Motorola India Managing Director T.M. Narasimhan said the company has combined flagship performance, intelligent AI, advanced display technology, premium design and seamless cross-device experiences in a single device, while the launch of Motorola Qira reflects its vision of creating a connected AI ecosystem across devices.

In Bhubaneswar, the launch is expected to strengthen competition in Odisha’s premium smartphone segment, where demand for feature-rich flagship devices continues to rise among young professionals, students, content creators and business users. With growing adoption of AI-enabled smartphones and expanding organised retail and e-commerce penetration in the city, Motorola’s latest offering is likely to enhance consumer choice and reinforce its position in the premium Android market.
