The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) conducted a day-long workshop to implement the skill development component under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, aiming to improve the livelihoods of traditional artisans and craftsmen by providing them with modern tools relevant to their trades.
The workshop focuses on a multidisciplinary approach to expedite the identification and onboarding of training institutions for skilling under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. Further, the emphasis would be to engage experienced and respected artisans from SAMAJ to become master trainers and trainers as per Guru-Shishya Parampara for imparting training.
The workshop was attended by senior officials from various organizations, including the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), along with other delegates. The PM Vishwakarma portal shows that 81% of applications for skill training are in the top 5 trades. MSDE will provide financial support of 2 Lakh per center per trade to establish training facilities for artisans with contemporary knowledge, tools, and designs. Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, MSDE said, “I am confident that equipping artisans with financial aid, strengthening training infrastructure and fostering innovation will help them to establish their own enterprises and become a vibrant part of the society.”
