Mumbai Police gets 26/11-like terrorist attack threat from Pakistani mobile number

Just 2 days after a mysterious weapons-laden boat was recovered from Maharashtra’s Raigad, Mumbai police on Saturday received a chance message, warning of a 26/11-like terror attack, people familiar with the calculations said. The message was sent via WhatsApp from a Pakistan-based smartphone number to Mumbai Police’s traffic management line.

The message also mentioned that the terror operation would be carried out by 6 people, sources said. Mumbai Police is currently investigating the matter and other detectives and Central Corporations are said to have been involved.

Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Thursday recovered a mysterious weapon-laden boat from Raigarh. “A boat with three AK-47 rifles was seized. The investigation is ongoing. We have recovered some documents from the boat, the bulk is inside the boat,” said ATS chief Vineet Agarwal. An FIR has been registered against unidentified persons under Section 25 and 7 of the Arms Act.
