A man from Nagaland has received widespread appreciation on social media after arranging the delivery of 150 pizzas to protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, saying he wanted to support those who had travelled from different parts of the country and were going hungry during the ongoing agitation.
The demonstration, organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has brought together students and supporters demanding reforms and what they describe as a fairer education system. Many protesters have travelled long distances to participate in the protest, with several spending extended hours at the site.
Unable to be present in Delhi, Instagram user Zha Lhou decided to contribute in a different way. He ordered 150 Domino’s Farmhouse Cheese Burst pizzas and asked the delivery partner to distribute them among protesters who had not eaten.
Sharing the experience on Instagram, Zha Lhou wrote, “Tonight, I couldn’t enjoy my own dinner with the grief that I couldn’t be there at the protest, and my fellow brothers and sisters are there starving.”
He said the delivery partner called to ask who should receive the order. “When he called and asked, ‘Sir, whom should I deliver this to?’ I replied, ‘Please just give it to anyone who hasn’t eaten,'” he wrote.
According to Zha Lhou, the delivery partner paused briefly before responding, “Aap toh bhagwan ho un logo ke liye.” He said the remark deeply moved him and reinforced his belief that the movement had touched many people beyond those physically present at the protest site.
Clarifying his intention, Zha Lhou said the social media post was not meant to attract attention but to encourage others to extend support in whatever way they could. “I’m not posting this to show off. I’m posting this because I want people to know that you don’t have to be in Delhi to help,” he wrote.
He also appealed to people from Nagaland, the Northeast and other parts of the country to support the protesters by sending meals through food delivery platforms if possible, adding that even small acts of kindness could make a meaningful difference.
