Narendra Modi to visit J&K today, launch projects worth Rs 20,000 crore; security tightened

Security has been beefed up across the union territory ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. Multiple levels of security arrangements have been made to prevent any untoward incident.

Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh said, “Security has been beefed up at the border. Counter drones have been deployed.”

In Palli panchayat of Samba district of Jammu division, from where Prime Minister Modi will address gram Sabhas across us on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day, entry and exit points have been sealed and roads barricaded.

All preparations are underway for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Palli Panchayat. The chief minister is scheduled to join the village heads at the village panchayat on Sunday morning. Locals are said to be looking up to PM Modi to announce the right initiatives for the youth.

Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of a Rs 20,000-crore development initiative in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. This includes the Banihal-Qazigund road tunnel, the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway, and the Ratle and Kwar hydroelectric projects.

In a statement on Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister’s Office said the authorities are moving at an extraordinary pace to bring in wide-ranging reforms to improve governance appreciably and make life easier for the people of the region. Following the “constitutional reforms” of August 2019.

The works being inaugurated or the foundation stone of which will be laid on this route will go a long way in facilitating basic amenities, ease of mobility and infrastructure improvement in the region, the announcement said.
