Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited a semiconductor plant in Sendai, in the Japanese prefecture of Miyagi, on Saturday, August 30, 2025. This was just one day after Tokyo and New Delhi decided to strengthen their cooperation in the vital technical area. Mr. Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shigeru Ishiba took a bullet train to Sendai, which is some 300 kilometers from Tokyo. The governor of Miyagi prefecture and other dignitaries attended a lunch thrown by Prime Minister Ishiba in Sendai in honor of Mr. Modi.
