Ever since the onset of the pandemic, the East Khasi Hills, which has been the most affected district in Meghalaya, reported no new COVID-19 case on the last day January.
Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said that the three new COVID-19 cases were detected in the State today, which included one each from the West Khasi Hills district, Ri-Bhoi district and West Jaintia Hills district.
“All the nine recoveries from Covid-19 recorded today were also in the East Khasi Hills district,” he added.
Nevertheless, the East Khasi Hills, which includes State capital Shillong, is the most affected district with 57 active cases and 120 deaths due to the viral disease on the latest count.
The Ri-Bhoi district currently has four active COVID-19 cases, West Khasi Hills district has three, West Jaintia Hills district two, East Jaintia Hills district and South West Garo Hills district have one case each, while the East Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, South West Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills have no active case.
Meanwhile, of the 3,36,160 persons tested for COVID-19, 3,22,396 persons were tested negative of the virus as on Sunday in the State, which had 10 containment zones where active cases have been detected, even as 14 persons were in institutional quarantine and 54 persons in home isolation.
Approximately 1400 persons were tested for COVID-19 in the State as on Sunday. Meghalaya has so far registered 13,764 COVID-19 cases, that include 146 deaths with 1.06 per cent case fatality rate, 68 active cases and 13550 cases of recovery from the viral infection.
