For many small entrepreneurs in Northeast India, the road to success is filled with passion, innovation—and challenges. Now, thanks to the launch of the North East Growth Lab (NEGL) by IIMA Ventures in collaboration with SAP, the dreams of 90 startups and social enterprises are set to receive structured support across all eight northeastern states.
Building on the success of the World Bank-supported Assam Agribusiness Growth Lab (AAGL), NEGL will offer grants, mentoring, training, and market access to ventures rooted in local communities. Over the next three years, it aims to generate ₹100 crore in enterprise value and benefit over 500,000 people, especially from low- to middle-income groups.
Entrepreneurs see NEGL as a ray of hope. From tribal artisans working in sustainable crafts to young food-tech innovators, Tripura’s capital holds immense untapped potential. With better access to capital and networks. Among the ventures supported are Dream Hives (honey-based mead), Fuloni (biodegradable pots), and Pustikor Foods (Joha rice cookies), proving that small ideas from remote corners can make a big difference—with the right support.
