Sprawling over 750 hectares across 19 districts, this initiative harmonizes with the National Mission for Edible Oils- Oil Palm, envisioning a surge in domestic crude palm oil production.Boasting over 9.62 lakh hectares of prime land suitable for oil palm cultivation, the region is taking significant strides towards reducing the nation’s reliance on edible oil imports.
Sougata Niyogi, CEO of Oil Palm Plantation Business, accentuates the environmental prowess of this venture, stating, “Oil Palm requires significantly less water than sugarcane and paddy crops. With the region’s bountiful rainfall ranging between 1,000–3,000 MM annually, the climate provides an ideal canvas for oil palm cultivation.”
