NSDC and IIM Ranchi partners to boost tribal entrepreneurship in Jharkhand

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Indian Institute of Management Ranchi (IIM-R) collaborate to promote sustainable socio-economic development and positive transformation in tribal communities. They aim to introduce livelihood opportunities and holistic development at the grassroot level in janjati regions through skill-based interventions.

The internship programme at IIM Ranchi aims to provide 80 interns with exposure to social projects and involve them in planning and strategy development efforts at Singi Dai Van Vigyan Kendra. The program focuses on medicinal plants, horticulture, and aromatic essential oil, focusing on local resources and culture. Second-year students from IIM Ranchi completed a five-day visit to Vikas Bharti, Bishunpur, Jharkhand, to learn about rural development initiatives and innovative solutions for sustainability and local benefit.

The initiative helps students improve rural marketing, cooperative societies, and self-help groups, aiming to impact demand for local products in national and international markets.  Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO, NSDC and MD, NSDC International said, “Through this collaboration between NSDC, IIM Ranchi and Vikas Bharti, we will not only establish strong relationships with local governments, NGOs and industry stakeholders but also build market linkages and industry connect for the locals”.
