Nuvoco Vistas Corp. Ltd. has partnered with renewable energy solutions provider CleanMax for a 46.4 MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project in Rajasthan, aimed at increasing the share of clean power in Nuvoco’s cement operations.
The project, to be developed by CleanMax at Bhikamkhore in Rajasthan, will comprise 20 MW of wind capacity and 26.4 MWdc of solar capacity, along with a 2-MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Electricity generated will be supplied to Nuvoco through the State Transmission Utility (STU) Open Access network.
Once operational, the project is expected to generate around 100 million units (MU) of renewable electricity annually and help avoid approximately 1,25,485 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year across Scope 1 and Scope 2. The initiative forms part of Nuvoco’s broader decarbonisation strategy, alongside Waste Heat Recovery Systems, energy-efficiency measures and increased use of alternative fuels under its DIRE (Digitalisation, Innovation and Renewables) agenda.
In Kolkata, the development highlights the cement sector’s growing focus on renewable power procurement and energy-cost management. With eastern India remaining an important market for cement and infrastructure activity, greater adoption of renewable energy by major manufacturers could support the industry’s efforts to manage power costs while reducing emissions.
Nuvoco Managing Director Jayakumar Krishnaswamy said the partnership would strengthen the company’s energy mix, improve long-term cost efficiency and reduce dependence on conventional power sources. CleanMax Founder and Managing Director Kuldeep Jain said the project would support Nuvoco’s transition towards cleaner power and provide greater long-term cost certainty.
