On Friday, two Rajasthan ministers feuded about whether to provide a two-hour respite in the night curfew to allow residents to celebrate the New Year.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot presided over a cabinet meeting on Thursday that decided on the relaxation.
During the discussion, Health Minister Parsadi Lal Meena stated that the people was opposed to the idea of curfew easing.
He was interrupted by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Pratap Singh Khachariya was, who expressed his opinion that the Chief Minister should know the “correct thing.”
He said that the state’s youths were looking forward to the meeting’s decision in the hopes to find some relief.
If the curfew timing isn’t changed, he says, “a big insurrection will occur,” and there’s a chance that “people would rejoice on roadways” despite the restriction.
He asked, referring to the health minister, “Who is going to listen to you?”
As the argument became more heated, Gehlot had to step in and beg Khachariyawas to drop it.
He claimed that their feelings were communicated to the public because 1.90 lakh people saw the gathering live on social media channels.
