Online food orders may get costlier from January 01, 2022

If you are love to ordering food from Zomato and Swiggy, soon  it’s going to be costlier for you. From January 01, as per government orders all food delivery apps will be liable to pay a 5% GST, on their restaurant services.

At the 45th meeting of the GST Council, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, announced that platforms such as Swiggy and Zomato should pay GST on behalf of their partner restaurants, including cloud kitchens and central kitchens, whose services are available through their apps. The proposal was accepted and will now applicable from January 01, 2022.
