Naxalbari, May 08: In a tragic turn of events, a 24-year-old fast food vendor was brutally attacked while on his way home from a wedding ceremony. The injured youth has been identified as Joy Burman of Shanti Nagar.
According to reports, this shocking incident came to light at Tukaria turn in Naxalbari late on Tuesday night. A group of attackers targeted Burman when he was returning home alone after a wedding ceremony. Reportedly, Joy was allegedly hit on the head with an iron rod. Later, locals found the youth and took him to Naxalbari Rural Hospital, from where he was referred to a private hospital in Bagdogra.
After this, the family of the injured and the local Panchayat member and head demanded strict punishment to the culprits. Meanwhile, Naxalbari police swiftly began investigating the attack and detained seven people for questioning. At present the event is being further investigated.
