Organisations flay March 20 assault incident: Nagaland

Khetoi Village Union Dimapur (KVUD), Sumi Community Purana Bazar ‘B’ Village and Purana Bazar ‘B Village Council have separately condemned the alleged assault incident that occurred at Purana Bazar ‘B’ village on March 20, 2021.

In a press release, KVUD president Kiyevi Yepthomi and general secretary Ikavi Sumi claimed that one Kakuho Awomi (Ex-GB, Padampuphuri, Dimapur), Hoshemu Awomi and other accomplices forcefully entered the residence of its member Hovukhu Awomi, and damaged the property, assaulted the family members and attempted to kill its member. KVUD said FIR has been registered with the East police station, but the two accused have availed anticipatory bail and other accused were yet to be arrested. The union has appealed to the police, civil administration, judicial administration, public organizations and individuals “not to be lenient with such organized offences. It demanded that the accused should be “judiciously and sternly” penalized.

PBBVC: Strongly condemned the attack, Purana Bazar ‘B’ village council (PBBVC) and head GB Khagen Mech, GB T Meren, GB Viwoto Yeptho, Rabomo Jungio and Ripunjoy Mech demanded the police authorities immediately arrest all the accused and not to grant bail.

SCPBBV: Also, condemning the incident, the Sumi Community Purana Bazar B Village (SCPBBV) chairman Ananto H Zhimomi and secretary Kivishe Kiho stated that attack on its member with sharp tools was nothing less than “life attempt.” The community said “we are shocked to witness such devilish action in our area which cannot be tolerated at any point of time”. It also strongly appealed to the competent authority to take appropriate action without any delay.
