Parents should follow the skincare routine for babies

As monsoon brings humidity and dampness, it can lead to certain skin-related issues in babies, such as rashes and itchy scalp. Dr. Prathibha Babshet, Ayurveda Expert, R & D, The Himalaya Drug Company, advised parents to follow a monsoon skin care routine for their baby.

Recommending parents to use gentle and safe products, Dr Pratibha says, “To ensure skin is moisturized and nourished, follow a proper monsoon head-to-heel skincare routine using safe and gentle products during the season. Choose a gentle baby soap enriched with Olive Oil and Almond Oil. Post bath, gently pats dry, especially the areas with skin folds. Dab a baby powder infused with herbs like Vetiver, which is known for its antimicrobial properties.” Dr Pratibha says that the best way to prevent a nappy rash is by using a diaper rash cream infused with Yashada Bhasma and Almond Oil. To wash baby clothes, parents can opt for a Gentle Baby Laundry Wash infused with herbs like Neem and Lemon, as they have antibacterial properties. To tackle itchy scalp and cradle cap which is common during the monsoon, it is advisable to take the herbal route by using a gentle baby shampoo infused with herbs like Hibiscus and Chickpea.  Also, use a mild shampoo with a ‘no tears’ formulation that gently cleanses hair without causing irritation to the eyes.
