Parts Of Delhi Receive Light Spells Of Rain

Residents of Delhi woke up to a cloudy sky with light rain over some places this morning.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that Palam has reported 0.4 mm rainfall. Ridge, Ayanagar and Lodi Road has reported trace rainfall, it said. The light spell of rain in the national capital is attributed to the influence of the western disturbance.

“As per our forecast, the impact of Western Disturbance has begun over Northwest India including Delhi. Palam has reported 0.4 mm rainfall. Ridge, Ayanagar and Lodi Road in Delhi have reported trace rainfall,” India Meteorological Department tweeted.

“A fresh active Western Disturbance likely to affect Western Himalayan Region & adjoining plains from 03rd January, 2021 onwards. Due to interaction between the above Western Disturbance and lower level easterlies from Bay of Bengal, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm/hailstorm at isolated places likely over Delhi during 3rd – 05th with maximum intensity on 04th & 05th January, 2021,” the weather department had said in its bulletin.

The Met department also forecast that “cold wave to severe cold wave conditions” are prevailing over many parts of plains of northwest India and adjoining central India, including Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh, and are likely to continue during next 24 hours and abate thereafter.
