PepsiCo India organized its annual Plog Run at the Kolkata manufacturing unit, promoting sustainable practices and supporting the Government of India’s Swachhta Hi Seva initiative. Flagged off by Zareena Sayed, Plant Head – Kolkata, the event saw over 200 participants, including employees, volunteers, and community members, jogging a 3-kilometer stretch while collecting nearly 400 kilograms of waste. The collected waste will be segregated and recycled, highlighting PepsiCo India’s focus on responsible packaging waste management.
The Plog Run, now in its seventh consecutive year in Kolkata, was conducted in partnership with The Social Lab (TSL) and Varun Beverages Limited (VBL). Zareena Sayed remarked, “The Plog Run reflects how employees, families, and communities can come together to actively engage in waste collection and recycling, bringing alive our philosophy ‘Partnership of Progress’.”
In Kolkata, the initiative has fostered strong community engagement, positioning PepsiCo India as a socially responsible brand. Local residents and participants noted the positive impact on neighborhood cleanliness and environmental awareness, reinforcing the company’s image as a proactive contributor to sustainable urban living in the city. The Plog Run merges fitness with environmental action, demonstrating how collective community efforts can help manage plastic waste effectively while promoting healthier and cleaner communities.
