PepsiCo India, in collaboration with The Social Lab (TSL), organized the 6th edition of the Plog Run in Howrah, West Bengal, to promote sustainable practices under the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission. The event was flagged off at Poly Park, Dhulagarh, by Gaurav Kumar, Plant Head – Kolkata, PepsiCo India, and saw participation from over 200 volunteers who collected more than 360 kg of waste.
The initiative was supported by Smt. Amrita Burman Roy, SDO, Sadar, Howrah District, and Shri Buddhadeb Banerjee, Deputy GM, District Industrial Centre, Howrah. The collected waste will be segregated and recycled, contributing to cleaner streets and environmental awareness. The Plog Run aims to merge fitness and sustainability, encouraging communities to tackle plastic waste while jogging.
From Kolkata’s perspective, this initiative is a significant boost for waste management efforts in the city. As one of India’s major urban centers, Kolkata faces increasing plastic waste challenges, and corporate-community collaborations like the Plog Run highlight the importance of responsible recycling. PepsiCo’s ‘Partnership of Progress’ reinforces the need for sustainable action across Kolkata’s markets, ensuring long-term environmental health.
