Peso Weakens Further as Citizens Turn to Dollar

Argentina’s economy is once again in turmoil as its currency, the peso, plunged to a record low against the US dollar. Inflation has soared past 120 percent, pushing many citizens to save and trade in dollars.

The government has introduced strict capital controls to stabilize the economy, but economists fear the measures may further limit business activity and investment. Ordinary Argentinians are facing skyrocketing food and fuel prices, sparking protests in Buenos Aires.

South Asian trade experts note that this crisis could affect agricultural exports, including soybeans and wheat, which are key to global markets.
