While petrol costs Rs 99.86 per litre in Delhi after a 35-paise increase, one litre of diesel costs Rs 89.36 (unchanged today).

On Monday, petrol costs continued to rise, with the price of petrol in Delhi creeping closer to the three-figure level. According to news agency ANI, while petrol costs Rs 99.86 per litre in Delhi after a 35-paise boost, diesel costs Rs 89.36 per litre in the national capital (unchanged today).

Petrol prices in other major cities also continued to rise to new highs. It was priced at Rs 105.92 per litre in Mumbai (a 24 paise increase), while it was priced at Rs 100.75 per litre in Chennai. Petrol is also approaching the three-figure level in Kolkata, with a current price of Rs 99.84/L.

Retail petrol prices in India are projected to firm up further in the coming days, as global crude prices rise due to increased demand and depleted stockpiles in the world’s greatest fuel guzzler, the United States. On the ICE, or Intercontinental Exchange, the benchmark Brent crude hit a multi-year high of nearly USD 75.
