PLASMA DONATION BY BSF JAWANS AT GMC HOSPITAL, GUWAHATI

At the time of the national crisis in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak, the Border Security Force Frontier HQ Guwahati is not only engaged in manning the Indo-Bangladesh Border but also extending all the possible help towards social welfare by donating Plasma to COVID-19 infected patients after being infected by COVID-19 virus during their routine assigned works, hospitalization and recovery to combat COVID-19 Pandemic.

On 15 Sept’ 2020, BSF Jawans of 41 and 67 Bn BSF under Guwahati Frontier who recovered from COVID-19 infection voluntarily donated their convalescent plasma after assessing their antibodies status to Guwahati Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Guwahati, Assam. Many other personnel of BSF Frontier Guwahati, who have recovered from the COVID-19 virus infection, are also ready to donate their plasma to combat COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Jawans were felicitated by the Principal of GMCH, Assam. During welcome addressed, the Principal of GMCH, Assam said ” He is proud of BSF and the Jawans who due the nature of their duties while guarding the borders and while performing law and order duty in the city had contracted Covid -19 infection and now soon after recovery they are back to serve the nation for a very noble cause i.e Plasma donation which can be utilized for the critically ill patients suffering from Covid -19. All Jawans were also praised by State Health & family Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sharma, in his personal letter.

Since the Composite Hospital (CH) BSF, Patgaon established a Covid Care Center/Dedicated Covid Health Center (CCC/DCHC) at Frontier HQ BSF, Patgaon, Guwahati, their dedicated medical and paramedical staff and their sincere efforts, genuine involvement, made the availability of necessary equipment and medication, training of staff and other necessary required arrangement within a very short period has been appreciated by state health authorities and have benefitted COVID-19 recovered patients. 5. It is worthwhile to mention that Guwahati Frontier BSF and Units/ HQrs under command are following the norms laid by WHO, as well as the Govt of India to Counter the Covid-19. Seema Praharis of Guwahati Frontier Border Security Force apart from managing Indo- Bangladesh International border, also assist border population in emergency like Covid-19 pandemic, as well as providing medical assistance to needful peoples.
