Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the pedestrian-only ‘Atal Setu’ over the Sabarmati river in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad city. The foot-over bridge is built by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the bridge is named after our former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
This historical bridge has an outstanding design and is bright with LED lighting, about 300 meters long and 14 meters wide in the middle and the west end of the riverfront is followed by flower gardens and the upcoming arts and culture center at the east end.
According to reports, the bridge has been beautifully designed so that people can walk over it from both the lower and upper walkways or the riverside promenade, says PTI. It has an eye-catching and stunning design and LED lights. Apart from pedestrians, cyclists can also cross the bridge of the river avoiding traffic jams. According to the report, the bridge is constructed using 2,600 metric tons of steel pipes, and the roof is made of colorful fabric. Railings are now made of glass and stainless steel.
In this, people can see the river from the middle of the reservoir. The bridge is designed so that people can approach it from both the lower and upper walkways or the riverside promenade. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it spectacular while sharing the pictures on Twitter and tweeted, “Atal Setu doesn’t look spectacular!”
