The capital city of Tripura is gearing up for the upcoming Ganesh Puja on August 27, with preparations in full swing and elaborate security measures being put in place to ensure smooth and peaceful festivities. The Sadar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Debaprasad Roy, accompanied by West Agartala Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee, convened a meeting with Ganesh Puja organisers on Sunday evening to review security arrangements and logistical concerns. The meeting, attended by representatives of various puja committees, focused on ensuring proper coordination between organisers and police personnel during the celebrations. According to officials, around 30 applications for organising Ganesh Puja have been submitted this year across Agartala. With thousands of devotees expected to throng puja venues, the police administration has already sought additional security forces to manage law and order. Special mobile vigilance teams will patrol the city, while police stations have been directed to remain on high alert throughout the festivities.
“Centering the Ganesh Puja, we have sought additional forces for Agartala city to maintain law and order. Mobile patrols will be active, and we are hopeful that the situation will remain completely under control. We have also interacted with puja committee members to understand their concerns and provide necessary assistance,” SDPO Roy stated after the meeting. The police have also issued strict guidelines to the puja organisers. All committees have been asked to deploy their own volunteers at the venues to assist the security personnel. Ensuring free traffic flow across the city has been given top priority, especially as several areas are witnessing drainage repair and civic works. The administration has further warned against the use of loud DJ systems, fireworks, or high-decibel sound equipment, with authorities promising immediate seizure and legal action in case of violations.
In addition to these measures, the immersion process on Dashami is being carefully planned to avoid congestion and ensure safety. Police officers have assured that multiple arrangements will be in place to guide devotees during the immersion rituals, which are expected to draw huge crowds.
