The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority of India on Friday announced a 10.7 per cent trade in the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for the calendar 12 months 2021 over the corresponding length in 2020.
This capability that the prices of almost 800 scheduled medicines on the National List of Essential Medicines, which are used to treat the majority of frequent ailments, will upward shove by using 10.7 percentage commencing April 1.
“Based on the WPI information provided via the workplace of the Economic Advisor, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the annual exchange in WPI works out as 10.76607% in the course of the calendar year 2021 over the corresponding period in 2020,” the NPPA word said.
Now the costs of drugs used to deal with fever, infections, heart diseases, high blood pressure, skin ailments and anaemia will increase. This consists of pills like Paracetamol, Phenobarbitone, Phenytoin Sodium, Azithromycin, Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride and Metronidazole.
