Tripura BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya has accused the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Congress of conspiring to prevent the BJP from establishing governance in the state. Speaking at a memorial event on November 13 to honor late BJP leader Shyamhari Sharma, Bhattacharya claimed that despite opposition efforts, the people decisively rejected these attempts.
Bhattacharya recalled Sharma’s assassination during a 1991 by-election in Agartala, where Sharma, the first BJP worker killed in the state, fell victim to political violence allegedly orchestrated by CPI(M) and Congress. “Despite these challenges, the BJP has successfully formed the government here twice, thanks to the relentless efforts of our workers,” Bhattacharya said.
He underscored the government’s commitment to law and order, emphasizing that the BJP’s priority is ensuring public safety. “Our state and central governments are dedicated to peace and development, which is what the people want—not violence,” he added, affirming that BJP’s governance remains focused on the welfare of all sections of society.
