Raju Bista, the Darjeeling MP, names Bharat Chettri as the Namo Yuva Run brand ambassador

Darjeeling MP and BJP National Spokesperson Raju Bista on Monday announced that former Indian Hockey Team Captain and Olympian Bharat Chettri will be the Brand Ambassador for the upcoming “Namo Yuva Run” in North Bengal. The event, scheduled for September 21, 2025, is expected to witness massive participation of young people from across Darjeeling, Siliguri, Terai, Dooars, and the wider region.

The “Namo Yuva Run” is being organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) to mark the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to organisers, nearly 10 lakh youths will take part in the run, which will be held simultaneously at 75 locations across India.

Announcing the details, MP Raju Bista said that the selection of Bharat Chettri as the Brand Ambassador carries great significance for the region. Chettri, who hails from Darjeeling, has represented India at the highest level of international hockey, including the Olympics. His journey from the hills to the global sports arena has inspired many young athletes. “I am happy to share that one of the Youth Icons from our region, former Indian Hockey Team Captain and Olympian Sh. Bharat Chettri, has graciously accepted to be the Brand Ambassador to Namo Yuva Run for our region,” Bista said.

He also appealed to the youth across North Bengal to participate in large numbers and make the event a grand success. “I request all youths from across our Darjeeling hills, Siliguri, Terai, Dooars and North Bengal to join us for the Namo Yuva Run and become a part of this historic event,” Bista added.

The run is not only a celebration of the Prime Minister’s 75th birthday but also aims to spread the message of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat – Drugs Free India.” Organisers said that the event will focus on fitness, social awareness, and youth mobilisation, linking the campaign with the larger #FitIndia Movement.
