Ramati Baishya honoured by central authorities of Assam

An old women named Ramati Baishya who is 105 years old was honoured by the authorities of central Assam’s Kamrup district on April 14, which is first day of Assamese year and Rogali Bihu of Assam.

According to the sources, the woman was honoured by District Commissioner and District Election Officer Keerthi Jalli for inspiring people to exercise their franchise.

Ms Jalli said, “It was great visiting the 105-year-old aaita [grandmother]. If someone like her can go and vote, our young voters can too. The initiative was aimed at not only to seek blessings from senior citizens but also to draw inspiration from their lives and advocate for a 100% voter turnout.”
