Days after handily defeating a candidate put up by the CPN-UML, Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav, a senior Madhesi politician, was sworn in as Nepal’s third Vice President on Monday. President of Nepal Ram Chandra Poudel gave 52-year-old Yadav the oath of office and secrecy during a special ceremony at Sheetal Niwas, the President’s Office. The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) candidate Yadav defeated Ashta Laxmi Shakya, a member of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) [CPN-UML] led by former prime minister K P Sharma Oli.
