Renault Nissan India crosses momentous manufacturing milestone of 2.5 million vehicles

Renault Nissan Automotive Pvt Ltd (RNAIPL) has manufactured 2.5 million cars at its Chennai facility, demonstrating manufacturing excellence over the past 13 years. The plant produces over 1.92 lakh cars annually, equivalent to one car produced every three minutes. Since its inception, the plant has manufactured 20 models of cars across Renault and Nissan.

Spread over 600 acres at Oragadam, Chennai, and the Alliance plant has manufactured cars not only for the Indian market but has also played a vital role in establishing Chennai as a renowned international hub for automotive exports. RNAIPL exports over 1.15 million vehicles from Chennai’s Kamarajar Port Ltd to 108 destinations, including Middle Eastern, Europe, Latin America, New Zealand, Australia, South-East Asia, SAARC, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Frank Torres, President, Nissan India, said: “Going ahead, we will leverage our new investment in India and our global expertise to bring out a truly exceptional lineup of products that set new benchmarks for growth.”

Renault Nissan Alliance invests $600 million in India to introduce new products, technologies, and boost production and R&D. The focus is on six new vehicles, including two fully electric ones, enhancing plant utilization and creating thousands of jobs.
